The last couple of years have been an increasing struggle…

Mentally handicapped worker discriminated against and forced to work at night.
I work for a Wal-Mart store in Texas. I was made aware of a situation involving a mildly mentally disabled worker and a new district manager with a reported 'zero tolerance' towards disabled employees. | Read More

Possible discrimination case brewing…
I worked nine years for this company. On December 14, 2008, (four days after my anniversary), I was taken into the office where I was questioned by two loss prevention associates - one from my store and one from regional. They told me I had been taking items into the breakroom that they were pretty sure I hadn't paid for. | Read More

Management turnover leads to problems
I have a physical disability which limits the time I can be on my feet. When I was hired at Wal-Mart -- through a disability job fair -- I asked for shorter shifts. My assistant manager was a good guy and made that happen. I was in softlines so I was on my feet quite a bit, but I managed. Then they started putting new AMs over us every few months. (I was told our original manager stepped down because he couldn't handle the stress. I believe it.) | Read More

Wal-Mart is not a “family” atmosphere
I have worked for Sam’s Club for almost 16 years. Up until February 2009, I was very proud to call them my "family." For the past few years, I have felt that they have wanted to get rid of me because of my age, my wages, and my sexual orientation. As I have gotten older, I have had a few health issues that I cannot control and this has caused me to slow down a bit. Nevertheless, I’m still capable of doing my job. | Read More

Support Employee Free Choice!
I want to urge all Wal-Mart associates to contact their congressional representative and tell them to pass the Employee Free Choice Act. You and you alone know how we are treated by Wal-Mart. | Read More

This is Called Slavery
I don't know how Wal-Mart executives live their lives knowing that they are importing consumer goods from China, Pakistan and Central America - where slave labor is rampant. I would like to see these people try to work in these factories where the workers are beat, paid 18 cents per hour and work up to 20 hours per day, 7 days a week. This is called slavery. | Read More

Pregnancy Discrimination
I worked for Wal-Mart for about a year, which honestly was not that bad...at first. While at this store, I found out that I was pregnant and I began to look for a new place to live. At the time, I was living in a one-bedroom apartment and needed more room for the new baby." | Read More

Money, Money, Money…
"There is discrimination, disrespect for employees, theft by management, dishonesty, and favoritism at my store. You were a target from the beginning if you came to work with a happy attitude." | Read More

Most agree that Wal-Mart is unfair to its employees and a horrible place to work
I am not a Wal-Mart employee, nor will I ever be, but I have seen the discrimination their employees endure. My elderly mother wanted a part-time job in order to have more social interaction, so she applied for a door greeter position. She was hired as a cashier and told she could make a lateral move when a door greeter position became available. Long and short, as a cashier she was on her feet for hours at a time because they were too busy to let her go for a break or the CSMs just "forgot." | Read More

A department manager describes the sorry conditions in her store
"I am a department manager at a NJ store and in every single morning meeting (which are held on the sales floor in front of customers), we are yelled at for whatever the "catch of the day" is. We have a skeleton staff because they are firing and cutting hours. We are now being verbally abused each morning. Also, during the day, managers are screaming at us to go unload trucks, get carts from the parking or run registers over the walkies." | Read More

We went from as much as 39.5 hours down to l0 hours a week!
"Just like clockwork, each june through august, our hours would be cut drastically. I mean we are all basically considered "part time" at the Sam’s club I worked for. We went from as much as 39.5 hours down to l0 hours a week! Full-time tenured associates, such as the meat cutters, were cut to 25 hours a week..." | Read More

Written Up Unfairly For “Altered Checks”
I worked for 3 1/2 years at customer service. I was frequently told to cash checks from CSS and management; they never initialed on them most of the time. I would still get written up for having “altered checks”. You could argue the policy all you want, but you would get yelled at by CSS or management. | Read More

No Consideration For Birth Of Newborn Child
I have far too many experiences with Wal-Mart to fit into this box, so I'll just use the most recent wound. While I was 9 months pregnant, I was offered a department manager's position in the Photo Lab. I know I didn't have to accept, but it was right before Christmas and I was about to have a new baby, which meant more bills. | Read More

The Effects of Wal-Mart’s ‘Family First’ Policy
I worked for Wal-Mart about 15 years ago... part time to supplement our income when my three girls were small. It seemed a perfect fit; [the store] was located close to home and we supported Wal-Mart with much of our shopping (diapers, kids’ clothes, toiletries, etc). When Wal-Mart came to town they paid just slightly better than other retailers and they were sought after by many as an employer. During the holiday rush, one of my girls became ill with a flu that nearly hospitalized her. | Read More

Managers Messed With The Time Clock, Allowed Dust Problem In Store To Continue
I am a former Wal-Mart employee. I worked for Wal-Mart for 7 ½ years as an overnight stocker with a final hourly wage of $12.32. My 40 cent/hour yearly raise didn't even come close to covering the increases in cost of living and health insurance and gasoline and heating oil. Every year it seemed they wanted us to work harder and harder and more shorthanded all the time for less money. | Read More

Fighting Her Foot Recovery Every Step Of The Way
I worked for the Wal-Mart in Show Low, Arizona for 15 years. I was the Dept. Manager of Hardware, Sporting Goods and I.C.S. Team Leader. I am female and have felt discrimination against females for 15 years. I was a full time employee, worked off the clock for the bast**** and never complained. Until one day my feet and ankles gave out and I had to have reconstructive surgery on both feet and ankles (after 13 years of pounding the cement floors and climbing ladders that male employees were afraid to). | Read More
